Brake holding test
In New York most vehicles are automatic, and many drivers rely only on the "Park" position instead of using the parking brake. Over time, when the handbrake is rarely used, the cables and mechanisms can corrode due to moisture, road salt, and dirt. This can cause the parking brake cable to seize or stick. When the brake is finally applied, it may not release properly and can lock the wheel. In some cases the vehicle may need to be towed to a service shop to resolve the issue.
