Changing the oil in differentials

Differential fluid plays an important role by lubricating the ring and pinion gears and protecting them from wear under constant load. Over time the fluid loses its protective properties and can become contaminated with metal particles from normal wear. During service we select the correct fluid according to the manufacturer's specifications because different differentials require specific types and viscosities of gear oil, including special fluids for AWD and limited slip systems. We also inspect the differential housing for leaks and overall condition. Regular differential fluid service helps reduce gear wear, prevent noise and extend the life of the drivetrain.
