Cooling system leak test (Pressure Test)

Duration: 1-2 hoursCategory: Diagnostics

  • Cooling system pressure test
  • Coolant leak detection
  • Radiator and hose inspection
  • Cooling system sealing check

A cooling system pressure test is used to accurately locate coolant leaks and verify the sealing of the entire engine cooling system. During the procedure the system is pressurized to simulate normal operating conditions when the engine reaches temperature, which allows even small leaks to be detected. This type of diagnostic helps identify damaged hoses, loose connections, radiator cracks, a faulty expansion tank, or leaks around the water pump and cooling system seals. Our shop performs this test when coolant levels drop, coolant residue appears under the vehicle, or when the cooling system operates inconsistently. The pressure test allows technicians to quickly identify the source of the leak and determine which components require repair or replacement.
