Diagnostics and repair of the torque converter (Torque Converter)
Torque converter diagnostics
Torque converter lock-up inspection
Slip and vibration analysis
Automatic transmission operation check
The torque converter is a critical component of an automatic transmission and is responsible for transferring engine power to the transmission. When the torque converter begins to fail it may cause vibration at certain speeds, slipping, harsh gear engagement, or transmission related fault codes. These symptoms are often associated with wear of the torque converter lock-up clutch or improper converter operation. To identify the cause, transmission diagnostics are performed along with road testing and evaluation of torque converter lock-up behavior. In some situations the issue may not be the converter itself but problems related to transmission fluid condition or other internal transmission components. After proper diagnostics it becomes clear whether the torque converter requires repair or if a deeper transmission inspection is necessary.
