Electric Power Steering (EPS) Motor Replacement
Electric power steering motor replacement
Electric power steering system diagnostics
EPS sensor and control module inspection
Steering assist system calibration
Modern vehicles increasingly use Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems instead of traditional hydraulic steering assist. In this design an electric motor provides steering assistance to reduce the effort required to turn the steering wheel. Depending on the vehicle design, the EPS motor may be mounted on the steering rack or integrated into the steering column. Over time the electric motor or internal components may wear out, which can cause heavy steering, intermittent loss of steering assist, or warning messages related to the power steering system. In these cases a full EPS system diagnostic is performed to determine the exact cause. If necessary the electric power steering motor is replaced. After installation the system typically requires electronic calibration and adaptation. Because EPS designs vary significantly between vehicles, the repair procedure and final cost are determined individually after inspection.
