A complete transmission overhaul always begins with proper diagnostics and a full internal inspection. These are reliable and repairable transmissions commonly found in vehicles such as Dodge, RAM, and Chrysler Pacifica equipped with the 62TE transmission, as well as work vehicles and cargo vans like the Chevrolet Suburban and Chevrolet Express / E-Series vans. These vehicles are typically used for daily work, transportation, and business operations, so installing a used transmission with unknown mileage is often not the most logical or cost-effective solution. In many of these cases rebuilding the transmission is the better option. We also perform transmission rebuilds on other vehicles when owners prefer to properly repair and keep their vehicles long term. However, in some situations, especially on vehicles where rebuild costs can become very high, such as certain Volvo models, installing a used transmission may be a more economical option for the customer. Another very important factor is the condition of the transmission cooling system. If the transmission previously failed and the fluid was heavily contaminated, we perform a complete flush of the transmission cooling system or recommend replacing the radiator. Old debris or metal particles left in the cooling system can enter the rebuilt transmission and cause damage. In those situations warranty coverage may not apply unless the cooling system is properly cleaned or replaced.
