Intake cleaning

Over time, oil residue, carbon deposits, and dirt can accumulate inside the engine's intake system. This buildup is caused by crankcase ventilation systems and normal combustion processes. As deposits grow, they can restrict airflow and lead to rough idle, reduced engine performance, increased fuel consumption, and unstable engine operation. Intake system cleaning helps remove these deposits and restore proper airflow to the engine.

Some engines from manufacturers such as Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and others use swirl flaps inside the intake manifold to control airflow entering the cylinders. Over time these components can become contaminated or worn. In some cases they can be cleaned, but sometimes the mechanism may require replacement. One possible symptom of worn swirl flaps can be a rattling or clicking noise from the intake area when revving the engine, which can make the issue difficult to diagnose.
