Repairing sunroofs and panoramic roof systems is considered one of the more complex operations related to the vehicle body structure. These systems include both mechanical and electrical components such as drive motors, guide rails, cable mechanisms, and control electronics. In most cases accessing the mechanism requires partial or complete removal of the headliner. This is a delicate process because headliner materials become more fragile over time, and on vehicles older than a few years removing the headliner without damage can be very challenging. Once access is gained technicians perform a full system inspection. Common failures include worn electric motors, broken plastic guide rails, damaged cables, or cracked sunroof glass. If parts of the mechanism or the glass panel must be replaced, the system must then be carefully aligned and adjusted to ensure smooth operation and proper sealing. These repairs require experience and precision because incorrect installation can lead to misalignment, water leaks, or repeated failures.
