Axle seal and boot replacement
The drive axle assembly, commonly referred to as a CV axle, includes constant velocity joints (CV joints) that transfer torque from the transmission to the wheels. These components allow the drivetrain to continue delivering power while the suspension moves and the wheels turn. Over time CV joints can wear out and begin producing clicking noises, vibration, or knocking during acceleration or turning. A common cause of failure is a damaged CV boot. As the rubber boot ages it may crack or tear, allowing grease to escape and contaminants such as dirt and water to enter the joint, which accelerates wear. During CV axle replacement some vehicles require partial draining of transmission fluid because the axle connects directly to the transmission or differential. When installing a new axle we also inspect axle seals and related components and replace them when necessary to prevent future fluid leaks.
