Replacing brake pads (front/rear)

Brake pad replacement is one of the most common services performed in any repair shop. Most drivers are familiar with brake pads and understand that they must be replaced periodically as they wear down. The brake pads themselves are usually relatively affordable and often cost around $50-60 per set depending on the vehicle and manufacturer. However, the installation process requires precision and responsibility because it directly affects vehicle safety. When installing aftermarket brake pads it is important to ensure they properly fit the caliper bracket and move freely in the guide channels rather than being forced into place. Wear indicators (squealers) must also be installed correctly so they can alert the driver when the pads are approaching the end of their service life. Rear brake pads often include special metal plates or cutouts designed to properly interface with the brake piston. During the service we also check the condition of the caliper guide pins, protective boots, rubber seals, and piston movement.
