Suspension component inspection
Strut mounts are located at the top of the suspension strut and connect the suspension assembly to the vehicle body. Most strut mounts include a bearing that allows the strut to rotate when the steering wheel is turned. Over time the rubber portion of the mount can wear out and the bearing may begin to bind or produce noise. When this happens drivers may notice clicking sounds, knocking, or resistance while turning the steering wheel. In New York driving conditions these components tend to wear faster due to rough roads and constant suspension impact. During strut mount replacement we also inspect the springs, shock absorbers, and related suspension components. The work is performed using proper spring compression tools to safely remove and install the components. The cost of the repair depends on the vehicle's suspension design.
