Brake system bleeding after repair
ABS system diagnostics
The ABS unit is part of the braking system and controls the distribution of brake fluid pressure between the wheels during braking. Inside this assembly is a hydraulic block with valves and channels through which brake fluid flows. Over time the mechanical portion of the ABS unit may fail due to internal wear, contamination in the brake system, or corrosion. In these cases the hydraulic portion of the ABS unit must be replaced. The repair involves carefully disconnecting the brake lines, removing the old unit, installing the replacement component, and bleeding the brake system to remove any trapped air. After the installation the ABS system is scanned and tested to confirm proper operation. The cost of this repair depends on the vehicle design and the location of the ABS unit.
