Brake system bleeding
The brake master cylinder is a critical component of the vehicle's hydraulic braking system. It converts the force applied to the brake pedal into hydraulic pressure that is sent to the brake calipers or wheel cylinders. Over time the internal seals inside the master cylinder can wear out, which may lead to a loss of pressure in the braking system. Common symptoms include a soft or sinking brake pedal, increased stopping distance, or inconsistent brake performance. In some cases an internal fluid bypass can occur inside the cylinder without visible external leaks. When replacing the brake master cylinder it is essential to properly bleed the brake system, remove air from the lines, and restore stable hydraulic pressure. Mechanics perform a full brake system inspection, check the condition of brake fluid, lines, and connections, and then replace the master cylinder followed by proper bleeding to ensure safe braking performance.
