Servicing an A/C Electric Compressor (Hybrid A/C Compressor)

Many people assume that servicing the air conditioning system on a hybrid vehicle is the same as on a conventional gasoline vehicle. In reality, hybrid and electric vehicles use an electric A/C compressor powered by the high-voltage system. This type of system requires specialized service procedures, the correct compressor oil, and professional equipment. Improper charging or using the wrong materials can damage the compressor or the high-voltage components of the vehicle.
