Valve Cover Gaskets
Valve cover gasket replacement
Upper engine oil leak repair
Spark plug well oil inspection
Ignition coil inspection and cleaning
One of the most common engine oil leaks is caused by a failing valve cover gasket. This type of leak can occur not only on high-mileage vehicles. In many cases it may appear that the oil is leaking from the lower part of the engine, but a closer inspection shows that the source is actually at the top. The valve cover gasket seals not only the perimeter of the cylinder head but also the spark plug wells. When the gasket begins to fail, engine oil can enter the spark plug wells and cover the spark plugs with oil, which may lead to ignition misfires. Because of this many people initially suspect spark plugs or ignition coils, while the real cause is the oil leak. The replacement procedure itself is usually not extremely complex but requires careful installation and proper sealing. The cost of this repair can vary depending on engine design, engine placement, and vehicle configuration.
